Collaborate With Others

You can invite other users to view, edit, and send campaigns from your project. Here's how:

  1. Open your project
  2. Navigate to the Collaboration tab
  3. Click + in the toolbar
  4. Choose Add Collaborator
  5. Enter the user's email address. This must be the same email address that is associated with their Direct Mail account. If they do not have a Direct Mail account, they will be emailed an invitation that includes instructions on how to download Direct Mail, create a free account, and open your project.
  6. By default the Send Invitation checkbox is checked. This means that the user will be sent an email notification informing them that they now have access to your project. Uncheck the box if you do not want them to be notified.
  7. Choose what level of permission you want to give the user (see below)
  8. Click Save Changes in the toolbar

To remove a user, select their name/email and press the delete key on your keyboard (or choose Edit > Delete from the menu bar at the top of your screen).

Project owners can edit the list of collaborators, permission levels, and re-send invitations at any time.

Permission Levels

  • Owner: Full control over the project, including the ability to edit the list of collaborators, edit permission, re-send invitations, and the ability remove the project from the cloud. Campaigns that are sent from the project are always billed to the owner.
  • Edit & Send: User is allowed to edit the project and send campaigns. Campaigns are always billed to the owner.
  • Edit: User is allowed to edit the project, but cannot send campaigns.
  • View: User can view, but not edit, the project

Re-Send Invitations

If a user did not receive the invitation email, you can re-send it. Click the Resend Invitation button next to their name/email address. There is a limit to how often you can resend invitations. If the Resend Invitation button is not visible, you will need to wait a few minutes for it to appear again.

The users you are collaborating with can open your project in several ways:

  • Click the Open Project button in the email notification that they receive
  • Open Direct Mail and choose File > Open from Cloud from the menu bar
  • Click a link that you share with them

To share a link to your project:

  1. Open your project
  2. Navigate to the Collaboration tab
  3. Click Share in the toolbar
  4. Choose an option to share the link

If you share the link with someone that does not appear on the list of collaborators, they will not be able to open the project.

Leave a Project That Was Shared With You

If someone gave you access to their project and you no longer wish to have access, you can leave the project:

  1. Open the project
  2. Navigate to the Collaboration tab
  3. Select your name/email from the list of collaborators
  4. Press the delete key on your keyboard (or choose Edit > Delete from the menu bar)
  5. Click Save Changes in the toolbar

You will be removed from the project and it will close automatically. The owner is not notified, but it is possible for them to add you to the project again in the future.
