You can refine your search by adding criteria to the search field. Expand your search by deleting criteria from the search field. Rule-based criteria can be edited by clicking the arrow next to the criteria and choosing Invert Rules or Edit Rules.

Saving a Search as a Smart Group

If you are using rule-based criteria in a search, you can turn your search into a Smart Group:

  1. In the search field, click the arrow next to the criteria and choose Copy Rules
  2. Click + in the toolbar
  3. Choose New Smart Group. A window appears displaying the smart group rules.
  4. Click in the bottom-left corner of the window and choose Paste Rules
  5. Give you smart group a name and click OK

Remember that smart groups search your entire list for contacts that match the rules. If that is too broad, you can refine your smart groups rules to search just in a particular group or groups. Use the Member of Group rule.
