Customizing email preview text (preheader)

Most popular email clients (including mobile email clients) display a few lines of the message to the recipient before they even open the email. Direct Mail gives you the ability to customize what the recipient sees in this preview area. Here's how to customize the preview text (also known as a "preheader"):

  1. Go to the Messages tab.
  2. Click on the message whose preview text you want to edit
  3. Choose Message > Add Preview Text from the menu bar.
  4. Enter the preview text. Direct Mail limits this text field to a maximum of 255 characters.

The preview text is only visible in the email client's preview area. The preview text will not be visible to the reader once the message is opened (in either HTML or plain-text versions).
